Breast Aesthetics
Breast aesthetics is a set of surgical interventions aimed at improving the appearance of the breasts of women and men. Operations in this field focus on both eliminating aesthetic concerns and eliminating some physical ailments. It plays an important role in increasing self-confidence by enabling individuals to be at peace with their bodies.
One of the first procedures that comes to mind when it comes to breast aesthetics is Breast Augmentation Surgery. It is generally preferred by women who are not satisfied with the size of their breasts or who desire a fuller appearance. This surgery is mostly performed using silicone or saline-containing breast implants. The implants can be placed under the breast tissue or under the pectoral muscle. In this way, the breasts look fuller, aesthetic and proportional to the body contours.
Large and heavy breasts may cause physical complaints such as back and neck pain, hollowing of the shoulders and irritation caused by bra straps in some women. In these cases, Breast Reduction Surgery (reduction mammoplasty) comes into play. By removing excess breast tissue and skin, the breasts are made lighter, smaller and more proportionate, thus eliminating physical discomfort and allowing for a more comfortable life.
Factors such as aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss can cause sagging breasts. In this case, breast lift (mastopexy) surgery is preferred. In this procedure, the sagging breast tissue is repositioned upwards and excess skin is removed, giving the breasts a younger, lifted and firmer appearance. If necessary, breast augmentation can be performed with this operation.
Nipple Aesthetics, which is a small but important detail in the appearance of the breasts, is also included in this scope. Conditions such as inverted nipples (inverted nipple) or excessively large nipples can be corrected by surgical intervention. Such corrections are complementary to the general aesthetics of the breasts.
Deformations in the breast may occur due to trauma, surgical operations (especially after mastectomy) or congenital anomalies. In such cases, breast repair (reconstruction) surgeries are performed. Breast reconstruction aims to reconstruct the shape, size and contour of the breast as close to the original as possible. This is extremely important for the patient’s physical and psychological well-being.
In men, abnormal growth of breast tissue may occur as a result of hormonal imbalances or certain medications. This condition is called Male Breast Enlargement (gynecomastia). Gynecomastia can sometimes cause pain as well as aesthetic concerns. The treatment of this condition is performed by surgically removing excess breast tissue and fat, giving men a flatter, masculine chest appearance.
All these breast aesthetic operations aim to help individuals become more harmonious and happy with their own bodies. As with any surgical intervention, these procedures should be planned by a specialized and experienced plastic surgeon in line with the patient’s personal needs and expectations.
